The individual in this role will be responsible for creating strong agency relationships that operate under a designated level of authority at the direction of assigned underwriters. Michigan Millers is seeking a Commercial Lines Associate Underwriter to join our team in our Lansing office!

Responsibilities of an Associate Underwriter include:
- Engage in the daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions
- Use established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority
- Review new and renewal business application documents, gather additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies
- Understand rating methodology and coverage
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
What is a must-have?
- Ability to follow processes and attention to details
- Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Able to multitask and solve basic problems
- Flexibility to handle various assignments
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Bachelor's degree in Insurance or Finance; experience in lieu of degree
- AU and/or INS certification

Salary : $50,388 - $60,465
