The targeted hiring range for this role is $24.23 - $29.07, hourly. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. This position is responsible for assisting underwriting in obtaining profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for new business.
What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?
- Assists underwriters in the processing of new business transactions.
- Uses established practices, processes, and procedures to write new policies based on underwriting authority.
- Reviews new business application documents, gathers additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies, and provides pertinent information to underwriting staff.
- Understands commercial lines rating methodology and coverage.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow processes.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and solve basic problems as well as demonstrate good time management.
- Flexibility to handle various assignments and changing priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance or finance; equivalent related experience in lieu of degree.
What will our ideal candidate have?
- AU and / or INS certification.
- Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts.
- Prior commercial insurance experience on either the carrier or agency side.
