What are the responsibilities and job description for the EHDI Regional Audiologist Consultant position at Michigan Primary Care Association?
Please note: This is an independent contractor for the Michigan Primary Care Association. This work will require 8-32 hours per month with some travel.
Regional Audiologist/Speech Language Pathologist
Statement of Work
Work in collaboration with Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) team members to:
- Provide consulting and education to designated facilities using a quality improvement approach. Conduct follow-up visits, calls/emails to monitor progress.
- Assist in coordinating and leading Kent County Learning Community.
- Provide virtual joint visits (parents/audiologists) to hospitals/audiology facilities for site visits, trainings and meetings.
- Conduct EHDI advisory team meetings as needed to facilitate implementation of EHDI Advisory Strategic Plan.
- Provide training opportunities for professionals who provide diagnostic and rehabilitative services for infants/children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH).
- Convene MI-LEND audiology trainee meetings to outline student EHDI/MHV activities.
- Assist in developing a plan with the state early intervention program coordinator to identify shared initiatives to facilitate EI enrollment for infants who are deaf or hard of hearing. Participate in Great start community conversations as needed.
- Collaborate with the MDHHS School age audiologist and MDE Early On® to facilitate statewide county hearing screening trainings for children through age three.
- Conduct virtual EHDI 101/1-3-6 Overview presentations for EHDI partners.
- Create educational content to be included in the EHDI quarterly newsletter.
- Create educational presentations for EHDI partners.
- Provide hearing screening technical assistance and training to community birth providers.
Qualifications
Contractor must possess the following:
1. A Michigan Driver’s License
2. A Michigan Audiology or Speech-language pathologist license
3. Experience working with hospitals, providers, children, and infants to implement EHDI related initiatives.
4. Ability to use Microsoft office tools such as Powerpoint, Word and Excel.
5. The ability to lift boxes and materials up to 50 pounds.
