Title: Coordinator - Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation
$80,000 – 87,000 / Posted Thru: 4/4/25

Location: Hybrid position, Lansing, MI office – Must live and work in Michigan

Purpose: The Michigan Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) is a statewide program serving childcare providers to improve the social emotional development of young children and works to reduce suspension/expulsion of young children from childcare settings. The coordinator will utilize project management skills to coordinate, manage and support Michigan’s IECMHC programs. This position will facilitate network meetings, maintain communication with key stakeholders, assist in the development of contractual agreements, facilitate the provision of technical assistance to the consultants, oversee and implement all aspects of the evaluation and reporting efforts, including data collection and analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Function as the project coordinator for the Michigan Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) Program for Childcare.
  • Function as the main contact for technical assistance and training to consultants of the IECMHC program.
  • Oversee the needs of the IECMHC program, identifying best practices and supporting local IECMH consultants in providing high-quality services, and evaluating and monitoring program components.
  • Develop relationships with the local IECMHC supervisors and staff.
  • Work cooperatively and in conjunction with state system partners supporting IECMHC program needs.
  • Participate in state and national meetings, trainings and conferences and support the IECMHC programs mission and goals.
  • With Purveyor, lead the improvement, quality, and effectiveness of IECMHC across the state.
  • Collaborate with the MDHHS Early Childhood team to support best practices for young children and their families throughout MI.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Technical Assistance meetings for IECMHC supervisors and consultants.
  • Coordinate statewide social emotional training entry and monitoring in MIRegistry system.
  • Collaborate with program assistant regarding event planning, data analysis, and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Assist Early Childhood Mental Health Coordinator with annual IECMHC CMH contract development and review and associated budgets.
  • Review the IECMHC program quarterly reports
  • Always represent the best interest of MDHHS and MPHI.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Minimum of a master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling, required. Licensure by the State of Michigan for professional discipline (MSW, LLP, LLPC/LPC) is desirable. Eligible for endorsement from the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health (Infant Family Specialist (Level II), Infant Mental Health Specialist (Level III) preferred.

Experience: 1-3 years of experience working with early care and education partners to promote quality services for infants, young children, and their families (e.g., Great Start Collaborative, Early On, home visiting program(s)). Three years of providing IECMHC within early care and education, use of the Michigan model preferred. One to two (1-2) years of leadership in the IECMHC field, preferred. Experience providing training and/or technical assistance.

  • Ability to organize, evaluate, and present information in an effective and timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, and correspondence related to the work.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and ever-growing field.
  • High level of personal integrity, dedication, creativity, flexibility, and initiative.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Workspace for remote work. Will
require valid vehicle operator’s license where needed to perform duties of the position (e.g.,
in-person meetings and site visits). Workspace will be provided when working in
Lansing/attending required meetings.
