The electric power industry is under profound change. Michigan Public Power Agency (MPPA) is adding a Strategic Solutions Business Lead to our team to assist our members and their end-use customers with sustainability, reliability, and resiliency objectives. In this role, you will play an integral role in helping 22 Michigan based community owned electric utilities transition to renewable and clean power supply technologies through the identification and implementation of innovative energy resource projects and services that will benefit the communities they serve.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with MPPA leaders and members to identify services that achieve economic, operational, and customer engagement objectives.
- Act as the lead project manager for services committed to by members.
- Build and maintain relationships with member utility staff, their governing bodies, and specified retail end-use customers.
- Participate in and present at member governing body meetings to engage and educate them on the value of services.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of each member’s electric load and power supply resources, as well as key community issues that can impact them.
Required/Preferred Skills, Education & Experience:
- Creative and critical thinker.
- Strong planning, organizing, and relationship-building abilities.
- Charismatic public speaker with presentation experience.
- Analytical mindset and experience.
- Self-starter.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, communication, or equivalent work experience.
- Five years of business development or solution sales skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to facilitate and manage (preferred).
