What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Medical Assistant/Technician position at Michigan Retina Center?
Michigan Retina Center is a growing ophthalmic practice, specializing in retina disease. We are looking for a full time Ophthalmic medical assistant or technician to help maintain the high quality of care we offer to our patients. While ophthalmic experience is preferred, it is not required to apply.
Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Prep patients prior to the exam (Obtaining medical history, check visual acuity, tonometry with a tonopen, administer eye drops)
- Communicate clearly to patients and staff
- Maintain good patient flow in our busy clinics
- Work alongside the doctor dictating into the patients’ chart or assisting as needed
- Assist in answering triage calls for patients with questions
- Assist in miscellaneous tasks as deemed necessary
Required skills:
- Ability to multitask
- Pleasant and calm demeanor
- High level computer skills
- Capable of standing for long periods of the day
Beneficial Skills:
- Ophthalmic medical terminology
- Electronic medical record experience
- Work experience in the ophthalmic field
Ophthalmic experience is preferred but we are willing to train the appropriate candidate
Work Location (may require travel): Dearborn, Ypsilanti, Novi

Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
