What are the responsibilities and job description for the Michigan Continuing Judicial Education Analyst position at Michigan Supreme Court?
The Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI) is looking for qualified applicants for the position of Michigan Continuing Judicial Education (MCJE) Analyst. Reporting to the Director, the Analyst is responsible for the management and implementation of Michigan’s continuing judicial education requirements. The Analyst also serves as the main point of contact between MJI and the MCJE Board. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as main liaison and point of contact between the MJI and the MCJE Board.
- Facilitate MCJE Board meetings and assist with other MCJE Board actions.
- Review appeals and other correspondence from judicial officers, and draft recommendations for MCJE Board actions.
- Track MCJE compliance and draft notifications regarding compliance for judicial officers.
- Serves as team lead, managing MCJE reporting and compliance.
- Review external continuing education offerings and draft recommendations regarding MCJE credit for the MCJE Board.
- Identify areas for increased continuing education offerings and assist with the development of new curricula to facilitate these offerings.
- Prepare memoranda and analyses for MJI and the MCJE Board.
- Assist with MJI programs and initiatives as needed.
- Other job duties as directed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years’ experience working in the courts, public administration, academia, continuing education, or a related field.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY: Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with legal authority governing continuing judicial education. Exceptional legal writing and legal research skills, strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, ability to exercise tact and discretion and the ability to multitask and prioritize daily responsibilities, emergency matters, and assigned projects.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Required to lift and transport materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 45 pounds.
WORK LOCATION: Official work-site location is the Hall of Justice. Remote work may be available in accordance with the MSC/SCAO Remote Work Policy.
