About Michigan Timber Shack
Michigan Timber Shack specializes in living privacy screens, offering tree sales, delivery, and installation. We provide high-quality Emerald Green Arborvitaes, Green Giants, Norway Spruce, and other evergreens, along with expert consultation and design. We are seeking a Crew Lead to oversee tree installation at our customers’ homes, ensuring efficient, high-quality work while leading a small team.
Job Responsibilities
Tree Installation & Site Preparation:
- Oversee and assist with planting trees at client properties, ensuring correct placement, spacing, and depth.
- Operate equipment (mini skid steers, augers, and hand tools) safely and efficiently.
- Ensure proper soil preparation, mulching, and watering to support tree health.
Team Leadership & Job Coordination:
- Lead a crew of 2-4 team members, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to standard.
- Train and mentor team members in proper planting techniques and safety procedures.
- Communicate with customers on-site to ensure satisfaction and answer basic questions.
Quality Control & Customer Satisfaction:
- Ensure each tree is planted correctly and securely, minimizing the need for rework.
- Maintain high customer service standards, ensuring professional and courteous interactions.
- Perform final inspections and assist with post-installation care recommendations for customers.
Safety & Equipment Management:
- Enforce all safety protocols to maintain a zero-incident work environment.
- Perform routine equipment checks to prevent downtime.
- Ensure proper lifting, digging, and handling techniques to protect both workers and trees.
Qualifications & Skills
- 2 years of experience in landscaping, tree planting, or a similar field.
- Experience operating mini skid steers, augers, or other heavy equipment (preferred).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of tree care, soil conditions, and proper planting techniques (training provided).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL is a plus).
