Health and Safety Specialist
$20-$24 per hour based on experience. Schedule is Mon-Thurs 6:30 am to 5 pm, OT Friday 6:30 am- 3 pm as needed for production overtime coverage.

HEALTH AND SAFETY SPECIALIST Summary: The Health and Safety Specialist helps with the development, implementation, monitoring, training, and managing safety programs, policies, and procedures. Identifies safety training needs and coordinates with the Health and Safety Manager to develop safety and job training programs.
HEALTH AND SAFETY SPECIALIST Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform weekly and monthly safety inspections for facilities and equipment.
- Assist and update annual review of all Safety programs education, training and policies.
- Conduct facility housekeeping audits and safety observations.
- Assist with conducting job hazard and ergonomic assessments, collaborating with production teams to mitigate hazards and improve ergonomics.
- Maintain all recordkeeping of completed safety training, observations, and corrective actions and individual team member information.
- Assist with and coordinate care of injured team members.
- Conduct daily facility walkthroughs to identify hazards, ensure safety practices, and correct unsafe behavior and collaborate with leadership for corrective measures.
- Assist with accident investigations and implementation of corrective actions, creating safety alerts when required.
- Assist with monthly storm water sampling.
- Coordinate and assist with Industrial Hygiene monitoring.
HEALTH AND SAFETY SPECIALIST Required Education, Knowledge & Skills:
- English and Spanish bilingual required
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (business, safety) or work experience equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Health and Safety background
- OSHA 30 or willing to complete certification within 6 months.
- Willing to become a First Aid/CPR instructor
- Ability to communicate and create buy in across teams.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations manual, and written directions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
- Ability to read and interpret statistical and technical data and convey to others
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Strong presentation skills
HEALTH AND SAFETY SPECIALIST Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly
- Standing and walking thru out manufacturing facility
- Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, crawl, and kneel.
- Specific vision ability required includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision with depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 36 -50 lbs., and consistently lifts up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing work environment that has frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, noise intensity level, proximity to moving mechanical parts and exposure to weather. Light to Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, printers, light traffic, and manufacturing noise from adjoining wall plant)
Ability to sit at a computer station for an extended period.
