Under the general direction of the Department Supervisor, the Production Floater is responsible for supporting Production in the flow of parts through our processes by identifying priorities, building assemblies/sub-assemblies and support products. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assembles parts to form complete units or subassemblies at a bench or workstation this includes sub-assemblies for closures and guides, sub-assemblies for small valve assembly, and sub-assemblies for large valve assembly.
- May involve the use of hand tools and small power tools to perform assembly operations.
- Builds pump flanges for small valve assembly and ensures availability for production.
- Builds all support products including ball valves and isolation couplings.
- Inspects various components to ensure the fit and finish of mating components. Reports any deviations from standards to supervisor or manager. Maintains accurate records of daily production and completes necessary forms as required.
- Assists in tig welding of sub-assemblies for large and small valve production.
- Responsible for accurately entering parts completed into our inventory system (through the tablet and/or computer).
- Responsible for maintaining an awareness of priorities and following the production schedule.
- Responsible for maintaining company tools and work areas in a neat, clean and organized manner.
- Responsible for always following safety procedures and advising supervisor or manager of any safety related issues.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Successful incumbent must possess a reasonable degree of hand-eye coordination and dexterity to effectively utilize tools required for the job. Ability to learn part names, part numbers, and assembly procedures and apply this knowledge in a timely manner. Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing assembly environment is preferred but not essential.
- Demonstrate dedication towards satisfactory attendance and punctuality. Understanding of the importance of quality and consistently demonstrate a commitment towards the same.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to accurately follow direction, both oral and written. Demonstrated ability to get along well with others. Attention to detail, accuracy and flexibility are a must. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to lift 70 lb. for big valve assembly and/or 50 lb for small valve assembly and push a cart weighing up to 1,500 lb. Physical ability to work extended hours in a standing position.
