About the Role
Micro-LAM, Inc., a leading manufacturer in the optics industry, is looking for a skilled and motivated Second Shift Team Leader to join our advanced manufacturing team. This role combines hands-on ultra-precision CNC machining and diamond turning with team leadership responsibilities. You’ll play a key role in producing critical optical components to the highest quality standards, while guiding a small team to success during second shift operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and program ultra-precision CNC machines and diamond turning lathes (e.g., Precitech, Nanotech)
- Manufacture optical components to tight tolerances (sub-micron precision)
- Interpret technical drawings and optical specifications
- Lead and support a team of machinists on the second shift
- Ensure production goals, safety protocols, and quality standards are met
- Communicate shift updates and collaborate with day shift leadership
- Document work accurately and maintain machine logs
- Assist with troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in ultra-precision CNC machining and/or diamond turning
- Prior experience working in the optics, aerospace, or precision manufacturing industries strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of G-code programming and ultra-precision processes
- Leadership experience or team lead responsibilities preferred
- Comfortable with interferometry, surface metrology, and working in clean environments
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience (a plus, but not required)
- Experience with aspheric surfaces
- Familiarity with metrology tools like Zygo interferometers or profilometers
- ISO-certified environment experience

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $37.00 per hour
