What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Application position at Micro Paradox?
Micro Paradox is a tissue culture and micropropagation laboratory that provides clean nursery stock and young plants to commercial nurseries in the United States and abroad. Plants produced by Micro Paradox are disease-free, uniform, and true-to-type. We also provide related tissue culture services such as germplasm maintenance, virus eradication, embryo rescue, and other custom projects.
About Our Roles
Micro Paradox has a variety of roles, ranging from watering technicians, growers, and general laborers to laboratory and research technicians. Examples of our positions and their responsibilities include:
- Department leads: ensure their teams complete assigned tasks and assist them in their day-to-day work
- Research technicians: assist with trials in aseptic or semi-aseptic lab areas (clean rooms)
- Laboratory technicians: precisely cut and stick plants and work in aseptic or semi-aseptic lab areas (clean rooms)
- Planting technicians: stick plants in soil trays in a warehouse-style work area
- IPM technicians: apply pesticides and herbicides and assist with IPM activities
- Watering technicians: keep plants adequately watered and apply fertilizer and plant health treatments
- Greenhouse technicians: sort, move, and pack plants in the greenhouse and outdoor work areas

Key Requirements
Requirements may vary by role. However, most Micro Paradox positions require:
- Ability to follow initial training and to perform routine work with minimal supervision
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation
- Basic written/verbal English; verbal fluency in Spanish, English, or Punjabi
- Ability to work with hands, stand, walk, sit, stoop, and bend for extended hours
- Ability to work in hot and humid conditions when required
- Ability to lift 30 lbs
