We are looking to grow our team with the addition of a Mechanical Design and Development Engineer in our elite Advanced Mechanical Platform and Systems Technologies group. In this role, you will be responsible for the technology development and implementation of new processes, components, tooling and automated systems that enable MSEI to meet its product quality, reliability, volume, delivery and cost objectives. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days per week working on-site.


Your Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of mechanical systems technologies for both new products, processes and electronics assembly technologies.
  • Perform in-depth design reviews to ensure new products meet the requirements with high quality and can be manufactured at high efficiency.
  • Lead Implementation tasks including leading stage-gate approvals, documentation, supplier quality interface, characterization, verification and on-going sustaining support in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
  • Develop specifications for new mechanical equipment, components, tooling, and automated assembly systems. These cover the spectrum of mechanical components, mechanical assembly systems and electrical test equipment.
  • Use 3D CAD, simulation tools, and 3D prototyping to rapidly create innovative, cost effective and reliable mechanical designs for product platforms and “software configurable” manufacturing automation platforms.
  • Using off-the-shelf technologies, provide solution based creative designs and manufacturing techniques to meet the requirements for new products and new platform technologies to be used in the assembly of the medical products.


Your Profile

Education / Experience Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Mechatronics Engineering - with evidence of high academic achievement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Detail oriented.
  • Proficiency in standard office productivity software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc...).
  • Demonstrated experience with 3-D modeling for mechanical design of products, process equipment and custom tooling (SolidWorks or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive, implement and complete engineering projects and experiments on schedule.
  • Experience with design & build of complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Demonstrated leadership interest/ability (intra/extracurricular).


Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience with machine controls including actuator and sensor selection, control wiring and pneumatics design, machine programming.
  • Planning/project management skills: MS-Project, Project Management Fundamentals training
  • Data analysis skills: Trained in DMAIC approach with demonstrated use of data analysis with JMP, Minitab or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated creativity with multiple examples of innovative solutions. U.S. or EU Patents desirable
