Join our elite R&D team as a Mechanical Engineer Intern for Summer 2025 at Micro Systems Engineering! We are seeking self-motivated, strategic-thinking engineering students who are eager to apply their skills in a hands-on, real-world environment. This internship offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with innovative engineers on cutting-edge projects that contribute to improving patients’ lives.


Our paid internship program provides valuable practical experience to enhance both your academic and professional career. As an intern, you will work within our design, development, research, and manufacturing engineering teams on impactful projects. This 3-4 month, project-based program is open to junior, senior, and post-graduate students who are passionate about medical technology and Mechanical Concepts.


You will work directly with the Mechanical Engineering team within the Research and Development organization of MSEI to develop next generation pacemakers and cardiac catheters through the execution of CAD design studies, hands-on prototyping and experimental research. Responsibilities

  • Prototype assembly
  • Fixture design (using Solidworks CAD)
  • 3D Printing Components and Fixtures
  • Test method development
  • Mechanical Test Execution and documentation
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the manager.



Requirements

  • Pursuing a Mechanical Engineering BS
  • Completed at least 3 years of Mechanical Engineering coursework
  • Solidworks experience is required
  • Part design knowledge
  • Basic understanding of drawing and tolerancing
  • Must have current U.S. work authorization. MSEI does not sponsor work authorization for summer intern positions. Applicants requiring future sponsorship (e.g., E, F-1, H-1, H-2, L, B, J, or TN visas) now or in the future are not eligible.



Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Material testing (ex. tensile and fatigue)
  • Experience using an Instron, Zwick, or Mark-10 tensile test equipment
  • Machine shop skills
  • 3D Printing
  • Design of experiments
  • Technical Writing
  • Collaboration
  • Excellent communication skills

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile.

Salary Range: $24-$32/hr (dependent on qualifications and experience)
