General Description of the Job
Safely and effectively setup and operate molding equipment to mold rubber products according to documented work instructions. Inspect the parts visually, and with precision measuring tools to ensure the product is within tolerance. A Level I Operator is able to setup and process work orders with some assistance of a Supervisor, Lead, or designated Trainer. Operator is able to recognize quality issues and request help from a Supervisor, Lead, or designated Trainer to maximize yields.
The Level I operator supports operational excellence within the department by driving continual improvement in quality and productivity.
Key Interactions and Relationships
Routine interactions includes Trainer/Level III Operator, Lead, Supervision, and Quality.
Qualifications
Training and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year experience in manufacturing of precision products.
- Inspection measurement skills utilizing manual inspection tools, (including calipers, snap gage, etc.)
- Basic comprehension of blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of a finished work piece.
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- Able to visually recognize cosmetic defects.
Education, Licenses and Certifications
- High School diploma, or GED required.
Specific Job Responsibilities
Primary Routine Work
- Safely operate equipment at all times.
- Follow company 5S guidelines, and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area at all times.
- Efficiently setup and run jobs with minimal need for direct supervision, ensuring a controlled, effective, and repeatable process.
- Follow company and department process guidelines, and work instructions.
- Perform operations per work-instructions, process sheets, and documented specifications.
- Perform, and daily record, in-process inspection of product requirements utilizing variety of precision inspection tools without assistance.
- Visually inspect, and segregate non-conforming product for visual defects.
- Ensure primers and adhesives are used within shelf-life requirements.
- Clean, and package parts to avoid handling damage as directed.
- Adhere to company quality, and safety standards.
- Record processing hours and quantities, (conforming and non-conforming) into real-time tracking system.
- Fill in job routers, inspection travelers, and all required documentation needed accurately and completely without assistance.
- Ensures that proper lot control is maintained on all parts, and materials.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and performing at expected standards.
