WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for a passionate Data Analyst. The successful candidate will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.
Data analyst responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting full data lifecycle analysis, data mining, data warehousing. Data analyst will develop analysis and reporting capabilities, as well as monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.
Working in Anchorage is a deal breaker. We do not provide relocation assistance.
Responsibilities and duties
· Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources
· Maintain databases and data sources utilizing MsSQL and MySQL systems
· Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
· Develop and design data collection systems
· Develop, design and improve existing data reporting systems utilizing Tableau Software
· Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
· Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
· Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
· Using data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns
· Organizing and transforming information into comprehensible structures
· Using tools and techniques to visualize data in easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams and graphs
· Preparing reports and presenting these to management or clients
· Other duties as assigned
Skills and qualifications
· Solid understanding of data sources, data organization and storage
· The ability to pay attention to detail when working with data in order to make accurate conclusions and predictions
· In-depth knowledge of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques
· Knowledge of how to create and apply the most accurate algorithms to datasets in order to find solutions
· Solid mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data
· Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share data analysis results
· Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
· Team working skills
· Ability to multi-task and strong attention to detail
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree preferred. Two (2) years of relevant experience may be substituted
· The candidate needs to be able to work in Anchorage Alaska (dealbreaker); we do not provide relocation assistance.
· MsSQL, MySQL knowledge is preferred
· 1-3 years of experience with Tableau Desktop/Tableau Online is preferred
· Strong IT and mathematical skills
· Experience in handling large data sets and relational databases
