Position Title: Extrusion Operator
Department: Extrusion Manager: Senior Operations Manager
Tier Level: 15 FLSA: Non-exempt

Essential Functions:
- Operate the extrusion and expander tubing lines per procedures.
- Inspect and test the output of the process to ensure it meets product requirements before use.
- Collect data for customers if required.
- Identify defects in products and solve issues.
- Follow MicroLumen’s procedures required for this job.
- Receive additional direction from the Manufacturing Engineers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Previous Work Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in molding operations (injection molding, extruded tubing, etc.) or equivalent.
- Previous experience in the manufacture of medical grade extruded and /or heat shrink tubing is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in medical device or other highly regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
- Previous quality control experience is preferred.
- Previous experience in machine troubleshooting is preferred.
- Specific personnel training is required for employees working with hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move about inside the manufacturing environment and access machinery frequently.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely handle and store hazardous chemicals.
- Must be able to work in a room with temperature variation.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Must be able to constantly use eyes to visually inspect and detect very small defects, color variations, and measurements in tubing.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language proficiently to ensure compliance with our ISO 13485 procedures.
- Must be able to work well with others and communicate efficiently and effectively.
- Must be self-driven with an ability to start and complete projects independently or within a group.
- Judgment is required to know when machines are malfunctioning.
- Judgment is required to modify process parameters if the process is in danger of being out of specification.
- Great care is required to use proper PPE and avoid chemical exposures.
- Strong analytical skills to analyze and resolve problems effectively.
