What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at Micromize, Inc?
Micromize, Inc is looking for an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer to join our founding team and be a key contributor. You will work on developing miniaturized high-density printed circuit boards (PCBs) for our customers. You will be responsible for designing PCBs per the customer’s specifications, obtaining prototypes, and characterizing the prototype PCBs. An ideal candidate for this position is someone who has an electrical engineering background and is proficient in programming. The job requires the ability to work independently and on multiple projects.
Responsibilities
- Design Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and update existing PCB designs.
- Create PCB layouts, perform component placement, and determine wire routing.
- Perform detailed error checks, generate Gerber files, and conduct post-processing to facilitate successful board manufacturing.
- Manage schematic symbol and footprint libraries for custom components.
- Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art PCB manufacturing processes and document findings.
- Develop software for data acquisition, analysis, user interfaces, and automation using Python, JavaScript, MATLAB, or C/C ; utilize APIs to automate tasks.
- Learn on the job and grow into additional responsibilities, including supporting the product design team with CAD/CAM tasks such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field is required. 2-4 years of experience desired
- Ability to learn quickly, take ownership, and work independently to solve a variety of problems
- Excellent written communication skill is essential for this job as it requires extensive documentation
- Experience designing electronic circuits and PCB boards Proficient in ECAD software like Eagle, Fusion 360 Electronics, KiCAD, Altium, and CAD software like Fusion 360 and Solidworks
- A track record of independently designing PCBs, obtaining prototypes from quick-turn fabricators, and integrating with complex assemblies at a fast pace
- Experience in programming microcontrollers and writing firmware
- Experience in writing code in Python, JavaScript, and working with APIs
- Experience in building projects using electronics prototyping tools such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, development boards, motor drivers, and various sensors & actuators.
- Experience using standard lab equipment and tools (oscilloscope, signal generators, power supplies, etc.)
- Experience with rapid prototyping using tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines is highly desired.
Salary : $100,000 - $135,000
