Job Summary:
The Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, NGSS-aligned science instruction to students in grades 6 through 8. The teacher will foster curiosity and critical thinking, guiding students through scientific practices and crosscutting concepts in Life, Earth/Space, and Physical Science, while integrating literacy, technology, and inquiry-based learning in a student-centered environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement daily lesson plans aligned with the New Hampshire Science Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Teach general science courses including Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science.
Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Design and conduct hands-on lab activities and experiments with an emphasis on safety.
Integrate STEM and cross-curricular connections.
Assess student progress regularly using formative and summative assessments.
Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school events.
Maintain accurate records including grades, attendance, and behavior.
Use technology (Google Classroom, digital lab tools, etc.) to support instruction and student learning.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics, or related field
Valid New Hampshire Teaching Certification in Middle Grades Science (e.g., 5–8 Science, K–8 General Science, or comparable endorsement)
Familiarity with NGSS and current best practices in science instruction
Strong classroom management and communication skills
