Within Azure Data, the Microsoft Fabric platform team builds and maintains the operating system and provides customers a unified data stack to run an entire data estate. The platform provides a unified experience, unified governance, enables a unified business model and a unified architecture. 

The Fabric Graph team is dedicated to simplifying the process of extracting insights from the vast scale of interconnected business data prevalent in every organization. We are driven by our goal to enable all users to visualize, analyze, and enrich the intricate relationships within their business data. Our team is focusing on developing advanced graph technologies that empower users to unlock the full potential of their data.

We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer who can define and implement our vision of scale-out graph services and infrastructure . This role is crucial in enabling large-scale graph analytics for data analysts, business users, and data scientists across all organizations.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead the development of core components for a scalable, cloud-based infrastructure, including distributed storage, networking, and service orchestration.
  • You will design, implement, and drive modularization, optimization, testing, reliability, and observability of cloud infrastructure components.
  • You will define and implement observability metrics, analyzing them to enhance system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • You will contribute to the collection, classification, and analysis of large-scale operational and system performance data.
  • You will guide the team in executing multi-group project plans, release schedules, and task prioritization in collaboration with key stakeholders (e.g., project managers).

Qualifications

Required /Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4 years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C , C#, Java, JavaScript or Python
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 4 year s hands-on experience in development and operations of distributed systems, parallel processing or database systems as an individual contributor
    • OR equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in high-performance compute, low-latency serving or algorithm development.
Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • D emonstrated experience in designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale cloud infrastructure and distributed services.
  • Experience with graph database technologies and query languages, such as OpenCypher or Datalog, in a cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of query execution, workload optimization, and performance tuning in distributed database systems and cloud infrastructure.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
