What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Microspec Corporation?
- Educational requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Previous custodial experience preferred.
- Reports to: Building and Grounds Lead
- Primary job responsibility: Responsible for creating and maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work environment by performing a wide variety of cleaning and maintenance activities primarily inside the facility.
- Essential functions of position:
- Respond to service requests quickly and in a professional manner;
- Perform routine cleaning tasks on a recurring schedule, to include:
- Dust and sanitize surfaces in offices;
- Dust and sanitize surfaces in public areas;
- Sweep and mop floors;
- Vacuum and steam clean carpeted areas;
- Empty and clean trash receptacles;
- Collect and consolidate recyclables;
- Clean, sanitize, and stock bathrooms; and
- Clean, sanitize, and stock cafeteria.
- Operate, maintain
- Maintain inventory of cleaning solvents and supplies;
- Weekly trip to recycling center with Microspec recycling;
- Track and report employee smock inventory weekly;
- Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department;
- Maintain accurate records of assigned tasks;
- Various pick-up and delivery assignments as needed; and
- Other tasks as requested.
- Qualifications:
- Ability to convey information and issues clearly.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to use Microsoft word and excel for record keeping and work tracking.
- Ability to squat, twist, bend, and kneel while using tools and performing tasks.
- Possess working knowledge of the methods, techniques, and materials used in custodial work.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Highly service-oriented with a positive can-do attitude.
- Ability to work with hand tools.
