What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Micross Components?
The Controller will also work closely with the Operations and Sales teams to organize, consolidate, monitor and report on detailed location business plans on a monthly basis. In addition, the successful candidate must also be a committed team-player, with an integral role in setting the broader strategic direction of the business in conjunction with the General Manager and his/her leadership team.
The ideal candidate for the Controller role is a high caliber, energetic finance leader with demonstrated success in guiding a divisional operational team through active partnering, while at the same time maintaining fiduciary responsibilities and oversight. The ideal candidate should also have experience with government accounting (i.e. total time accounting) and the DFARS/FARS, as they apply to direct government contracts, subcontracts to primes, and purchase orders in support of government funded programs.
Job Duties:
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Safeguard assets and assure accuracy by implementing, monitoring and enforcing disciplines of internal accounting controls across departments.
- Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
- Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; making investments.
- Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
- Assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals.
- Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data through the company ERP System.
- Provide financial analysis tools by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends which in turn guides the entire leadership team to data driven business improvements.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
- Completes operational requirements by following up on work results.
- Interface with outside audit firm(s) and regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Oversees and mentors the financial staff through coaching, counselling, training, monitoring, appraising job performance.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Safeguards operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Job Qualifications:
- BS in Accounting/Finance from a fully accredited institution is required; MBA/CPA is preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma, Green Belt or Black Belt certification a plus.
- Minimum of 5 -10 years or more of a proven record of achievement across a breadth of accounting and finance functions, including government accounting.
- Hands-on experience developing and implementing sophisticated and state-of-the-art financial accounting systems and controls.
- Operational finance approach to the business, to include proactive forecasting, departmental budget analysis and projections.
