Summary
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating installation projects from planning through execution, ensuring successful and timely completion. You will serves as the primary point of contact for internal teams and customers, managing communication, scheduling, and resource allocation. Your expertise will ensure that projects not only meet deadlines but also stay within scope, coordinating efforts seamlessly across global locations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Execution
- Manage all phases of project execution, including initiation, planning, implementation, and closeout.
- Assign tasks and deadlines to internal teams, ensuring clear expectations and accountability.
- Set project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure on-time completion.
- Monitor project budgets, risks, and resource needs, adjusting plans as necessary.
- Identify and resolve material shortages, spare part needs, and production risks.
- Provide engineering support to customers and internal teams during installation and post-implementation phases.
Customer & Internal Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison between customers and internal teams, ensuring alignment on project requirements and expectations.
- Maintain open communication paths between departments and customers to ensure project success.
- Provide regular project updates, status reports, and issue resolutions through Asana, Slack, and email.
- Set and manage customer expectations, ensuring clear understanding of system definitions, ordering requirements, and installation timelines.
Process Improvement & Documentation
- Track and update project tasks, dates, and dependencies using Asana and other project management tools.
- Maintain and document best practices, lessons learned, and workflow improvements for future projects.
- Support the development of technical documentation, installation guidelines, and customer training materials.
- Assist in reviewing electrical and mechanical drawings for completeness and accuracy.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work with department heads, engineering, and team leads to assign and dedicate resources effectively.
- Collaborate with Sales to identify and address potential project risks before contract finalization.
- Review and provide feedback on engineering drawings, mill layouts, and system designs to ensure installation feasibility.
- Work closely with Purchasing, Production, and Logistics to ensure proper tracking of materials and production of new equipment.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills adaptable across various platforms.
- Proven ability to delegate tasks and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
- Confidence in making data-driven decisions, even in unfamiliar situations.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Azure Dev Ops, Triskell , Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management.
- PMP certification (preferred).
- Experience in the wood processing industry (preferred).
- Experience managing capital projects (preferred).
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel internationally and domestically up to 30%.
- Ability to sit, stand and twist for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to scanning technology and machinery.
- Visual acuity to operate heavy equipment.
- Can receive detailed information through oral communication.
- Can convey important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly and quickly.
- Subject to environmental conditions: Protection from weather, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
