Position Summary
MicroTransponder Inc. has developed the Paired Vagus Nerve Stimulation Platform (Paired VNS™ Platform) based on decades of neuroscience research. The Vivistim® System, for improving stroke survivors' hand and arm function, is the first FDA-approved system on the platform.
The Principal Continuation Engineer's primary responsibilities are managing and executing continuation activities and supporting project teams by providing project coordination and tracking. This position will work closely with quality, operations, regulatory, and external contract manufacturers to ensure products are developed and supported and adhere to design controls, applicable standards, and regulations.
Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions
QUALIFICATIONS
The employee will be based full-time on-site at the Minneapolis, MN, MicroTransponder Operations Center. Travel will be required to new and current suppliers, company office in Austin, TX and other locations as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to reach; talk or hear in a standard office environment and independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Ability to travel by car or airplane independently and work after hours as required by travel schedule or business issues.

Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Manage and execute continuation activities for internal and contract manufacturer changes and projects. This may include managing a team and/or being an individual contributor as required by the task
- Perform project management activities for product development project leader and continuation activities
- Executes as technical lead on projects and/or deliverables not requiring a larger project team. This may include identifying requirements, tasks, schedule, budget and completing these deliverables with minimal external support
- Oversee and technically support contract manufacturers to ensure product availability and business continuity
- Grow and manage a small team in tandem with the growth of the company
- Provide direction and manage contract manufacturers on manufacturing-related product development and continuation projects and activities
- Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes for current programs and next-generation programs and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company. Prepares reports, publishes, and makes presentations to communicate findings
- Responsible for creation and execution of project plans to support Product Development and Continuation. Project planning may include task scheduling, resource management and budgeting
- Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Manges and prioritizes project activities, defines and obtains appropriate resources, and tracks project team execution against project deliverables
- Provide technical supervision and mentorship to lower-level engineers and direction to other technical personnel including external contractors as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree or 7 years of relevant experience in a related discipline required
- Experience in engineering roles within the medical device industry required
- Experience in medical device manufacturing and vendor management required
- SME medical industry experience preferred
- Proficiency with computer operations, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Competency with Smartsheet or other project management tool
- Teamwork - ability to work with all functions within an organization
- Integrity - handle confidential information in an effective manner
- Innovation - able to switch gears when the business requires it
- Leadership - ability to lead by example. Establish credibility within the organization and lead others when warranted
