Job Summary
The Controller will work directly with and for the President, CFO and Corporate Controller, supporting a variety of accounting and finance related duties. This includes, but is not limited to, account reconciliation, standard entries, AP/AR, inventory reconciliation, maintaining the accounting systems, preparing financial statements, financial reports, and anything and everything else that comes up in the Accounting & Finance area. This position will also participate in WIP meetings and job reviews with Project Management staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review financial statements for accuracy.
- Assist in maintaining financial records and ensure financial records are properly recorded.
- Prepare weekly and monthly journal entries, including month end accrual entries.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Work with team to make sure all weekly and monthly timelines are met to adhere with monthly closing calendar.
- Bank Reconciliations.
- Analyze current costs, revenues, financial reports.
- Complete tax returns as due: Sales, etc.
- Monthly WIP preparation and meetings.
- Prepare monthly Financials Statements.
- Oversee annual audit process.
- Compile financial data for management.
- Oversee the day to day of the accounting department including payroll, accounts payable, credit cards, accounts receivable, job cost, billings, cash application, collections, etc.
- Maintain proper controls within the accounting department and ensure all procedures are in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Cultivate strong partnership with Operations.
- Handle special projects as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities of the Controller
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Construction accounting experience with understanding of WIP reports preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically advanced features of Excel.
- Must have strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to be detail oriented with good follow-through and a sense of urgency in managing time and accomplishing tasks.
- Ability to evaluate information and make independent decisions.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
· Primary work area is a controlled office environment, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Classification & Compensation
· The position is full-time, permanent and exempt.
· The pay range varies, depending on experience, skills, abilities, and length of service with the Company.
