What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct-School of Teacher Education position at MID-AMERICA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY INC?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Mid-America University seeks a part-time faculty member with in-person and online teaching experience for undergraduate courses in the areas of elementary or early childhood. The applicant must possess a strong Christian background and must be an Oklahoma resident.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach courses within the School of Teacher Education as assigned by the Chair and/or Director of the School of Teacher Education.
- Provide quality instruction by following the department’s course syllabus, grading assignments, tracking attendance, and assisting with scheduling and maintaining field experience as assigned.
- Respond and effectively communicate with the Chair and/or Director of the School of Teacher Education on a regular basis.
- Work with Office Manager to turn in assignments with rubrics for data collection.
- Utilize current technologies and incorporate current topics as they relate to course materials.
- Other pertinent duties as assigned by full-time faculty or office manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess excellent communication skills to work effectively with individuals and groups.
- Must be flexible in scheduling, which may include evening courses.
- Prefer experience in various teaching delivery formats.
- Prefer teaching experience in early childhood or elementary.
- Prefer reading certification; LETRS certification; phonics experience.
- Must be an Oklahoma resident.
- Must have a valid Oklahoma teaching certificate.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- M.S. or PhD in the area of elementary or early childhood coursework (18 hours of upper-division coursework in the area being taught).
- Demonstrate effective teaching skills.

- Experience teaching in classrooms in K-12 school settings in early childhood or elementary.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Experience with interactive computer programs and web 2.0 tools (e.g. Zoom)
- Will be trained in CANVAS
