What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time STEM Program Assistant position at Mid-America Council, Scouting America?
The Invention Scouts Assistant is responsible for developing awareness and participation in Scouting through a variety of in-person educational opportunities with community organizations, schools, educators, and institutions. The Invention Scouts Assistant builds strong relationships and promotes programs and recruitment initiatives in targeted communities to increase involvement, appearances, and/or memberships for the program.
This position is meant to be a STEM education role (in the schools teaching), wherein, the candidate actively works with students to better help them understand how the “hands-on” approach works and how it can help them find a career.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Assist in the development of effective recruitment strategies for kids/adolescents to increase awareness and participation in Scouting through educational opportunities with community organizations, schools, educators, and institutions
· Help promote STEM to boys/girls, families, volunteers and cultivate relationships with appropriate community leads, organizations, and businesses to support recruitment efforts within targeted areas to positively impact membership growth
· Collaborate with community partners to assess the needs of underserved populations and communities
· Establish strong relationships with site managers to ensure credibility and long-term collaborations with the Invention Scouts in all sites.
· Deliver STEM-based and Career-based educational materials to students in the classrooms at a variety of times and places.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 15 per week
