University Overview: MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) is a private, liberal arts university with a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and adult education programs, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Position Description:
The Associate Registrar is an integral member of the Registrar’s team who works to support the mission and functions of the Office of the Registrar; interprets and enforces university policy when appropriate; and performs leadership and administrative duties in the areas of class registration, grading, academic record maintenance, graduation and commencement, and other administration and support activities.
Position Reports to: The Registrar
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in student information systems (e.g., Banner, Colleague)
- Strong knowledge of FERPA regulations and academic record management
- Expertise in VA educational benefits certification processes
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Meticulous attention to detail in data entry and record keeping
- Excellent customer service and student support experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Academic Records and Registration
- Working with academic units, oversee student records and registration activities for traditional student programs and the School of Nursing.
- Serve as the VA certifying officer for the institution.
- Oversee the student withdrawal from college/exit process.
- Manage the student readmission process.
- Work with students participating in individual off-campus study programs (study abroad).
- Assist with evaluation and articulation of transfer work for incoming and current students in preparation for entry into Banner.
Graduation and Commencement Activities
- Oversee the graduation clearance and posting of degrees for traditional student programs and the School of Nursing Process orders for diplomas for traditional program graduates.
- Oversee the course substitution/waiver process.
- Assist the Registrar Office with commencement weekend preparation and related activities.
Office Leadership
- Assist the Registrar in overall office leadership and decision-making.
- Provide policy interpretation and policy enforcement appropriate to the academic functions of the University.
- Adhere to the AACRAO Principles of Professional Ethics and Practice and keep current on best practices in higher education.
- Other appropriate duties as assigned by the Registrar.
Qualifications
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2-3 years of experience in academic records management
- Demonstrated experience working with technology and data systems to increase effectiveness of work for self and others
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential student records
- Proficiency in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
