What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper position at Mid-america Nazarene University?
Job Summary: This position is responsible to maintain, install, and care for the university grounds and off-campus properties. This includes mowing and any other grounds keeping tasks to ensure that the campus outdoor environment is safe, well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing.
Responsibilities:
- Operate moving equipment to maintain all campus turf at an acceptable height
- Assist in working in all areas of grounds keeping as needed. May include driving university vehicles on and off campus
- Maintain and service mowing equipment used to obtain optimum level of performance
- Work performing all snow removal tasks
- Required on-call in winter season to work overtime hours as necessary to perform snow/ice removal tasks
- Coordinate mowing schedule seasonally with regards to athletic team schedules
- Perform other responsibilities, including assisting with special events, moving, and group effort duties with other departments as assigned
- Perform all duties in a safe and professional manner within department and university policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Knowledge and ability to operate and service various equipment, machinery and hand tools to safely perform grounds work
- Ability to perform minor machinery and equipment service and maintenance
- Ability to read, write and follow direction from a written schedule
- Ability to communicate both written and orally in English
- Valid driver's license - maintained and up to date
Education and/or Experience:
- High school level education
- One year experience in the care and maintenance of similar facilities or any combination of education, training or experience which fulfills the requirements of the position and needs of the university.
