Job Summary:
The Play Therapy Certificate Program Coordinator will oversee the administration, development, and support of the Play Therapy Certificate Program. This position is responsible for coordinating program activities, supporting faculty and students, ensuring compliance with credentialing standards, and promoting the program within the community. The Coordinator will also be responsible for program development toward strategic goals to keep the program current, along with developing and participating in research. The Coordinator will collaborate with various stakeholders, including the advisory board to provide a high-quality educational experience and to maintain the program’s accreditation status with APT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Administration:
- Coordinate all aspects of the Play Therapy Certificate Program, including scheduling courses, managing student admissions, and maintaining program records.
- Collaborate with adjunct faculty to ensure curriculum and instructional materials align with best practices in play therapy and credentialing.
- Work with advisory board in having a regular strategic plan and ensuring it is moving toward implementation.
- Collaborate with Counselor Ed faculty by attending every other week meetings.
- Student Support:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and current students, providing information and guidance regarding program requirements, course selection, and professional development.
- Monitor student progress to ensure compliance with program requirements and provide assistance in addressing any academic or professional concerns.
- Accreditation and Compliance:
- Ensure the program meets the standards and requirements set by relevant accrediting bodies (e.g., Association for Play Therapy).
- Maintain accurate records for all program activities, including student and faculty information, syllabi, and training materials, to ensure compliance with accreditation and credentialing guidelines.
- Program Development and Outreach:
- Work with adjunct faculty and administrators to continually improve and develop the curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant and effective.
- Promote the Play Therapy Certificate Program through outreach efforts, including informational sessions, marketing materials, and collaboration with community partners and agencies.
- Assist with the development and implementation of continuing education and professional development opportunities for program alumni and other professionals to maintain accreditation requirements with APT.
- Provide leadership within the Play Therapy Community through presentations, leadership positions, consultation, etc.
- Look for ways to find external funding through donations and grants
- Scholarship
- Design and conduct comprehensive research studies related to play therapy methodologies and outcomes.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to assess program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with therapists, counselors, and other staff members to integrate research findings into practical program improvements.
- Prepare detailed reports, academic papers, and presentations to disseminate findings to stakeholders and the wider academic community.
- Stay updated on current trends and advancements in the field of play therapy and related disciplines.
- Maintain ethical standards in research, ensuring the confidentiality and welfare of participants.
- Ensure that research requirements are met with APT.
- Adjunct Faculty Support:
- Provide support to faculty members, including scheduling, coordination of course materials, and assistance with instructional technology as needed.
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of adjunct faculty and guest instructors.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- PhD degree in counseling preferred, or a related field. Master’s level applicants will be considered.
- Licensed at the clinical level (or license-eligible) in the field of counseling or other Master’s level mental health fields.
- Credentialed as a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S).
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with adjunct faculty, students, and community partners.
- Familiarity with accreditation and credentialing requirements for play therapy programs is a plus.
