Job Purpose:
The Electrician Tech is responsible for maintaining a clean, professional and safe working environment at all times. Team members in this position install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. In addition, they ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. They may be required to install or service time clocks, intercom systems, or electrical control systems. This position is multi-faceted and requires an understanding of company policies, procedures and values.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
- Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
- Conduit bending skills
- Troubleshooting – determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
- Repairing – repairing machines or systems using the needed tools
- Critical Thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Basic troubleshooting skills and mechanical experience preferred
- A minimum of 1 year of electrical experience
- Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change
- A valid electrical apprentice license
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments. This position operates in multiple work environments including a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this position, the team member will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and will be exposed to chemicals. Other requirements may include but are not limited to:
- Lifting weights up to sixty (60) pounds
- Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders
- Opening and closing flow valves
- Occasionally bending, twisting and turning while lifting weight of less than fifty (50) pounds
- Walking up to two (2) or more miles a day
- Working at heights, in confined spaces and at temperatures from 0 to 100 plus degrees Fahrenheit
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Using hand and power tools
