Job purpose
The Packaging employee is responsible for maintaining a clean, professional and safe working environment at all times. Team members in this position are responsible for getting finished goods into the correct packaging for sale, run multiple tests in accordance to the Quality Work Procedures, ensure analyzations are completed in a timely manner that is established by the Quality Manager and/or Operations. If any results are out of range, it is the responsibility of the Packaging employee to report this information to the Shift Manager. This position requires understanding company policy, procedures and values.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, professional and safe working environment
- Must be able to perform multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction math problems
- Must be detail oriented
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
- Coordinate test results with Quality Control to ensure optimum quality and efficiency
- Maintain Packaging supplies and provide supply orders with Shift Manager
- Work with Quality Control on special testing requests
- Perform tests in accordance with approved MAPF’s SOP’s and according to the frequency established by the Quality Manager and/or Operations
- Ensure all data entry is completed in a timely manner
- Ensure all samples for Quality Data Checks/projects/studies are collected in a timely manner
- Notify the Shift Manager when any quality control standards are not within specified limits
- Must be able to meet call-in requirements as well as work extended hours as necessary
- Must be able to work nights as well as flexible hours
- Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts
- Must be able to work 7 days a week when the schedule requires it
- Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times
- Maintain a TEAM environment at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Willingness to learn new software applications
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communications skills as well as the ability to adapt to change
Working conditions
This position requires a thorough understanding of company policy. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments.
In the plant environment, the team member may be exposed to noise, heat and other elements both inside and outside. While performing the duties of this position, the team member will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and will be exposed to chemicals.
Physical requirements
- Occasionally lifting weight up to (60) sixty pounds
- Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders
- Opening and closing flow valves
- Occasionally bending, twisting and turning while lifting weight of less than fifty (50) fifty pounds
- Data entry while seated for greater than 1 (one) hour
- Working sitting down for extended periods of time, up to (2) two hours
- Walking up to two (2) or more miles a day
- Pushing brooms, shovels, etc
- Performing repetitious movements for up to (2) two hours
- Working in a fast-paced environment
- Working at heights, in confined spaces and at temperatures from 0 to 100 plus degrees Fahrenheit
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE - hearing protection)
- Using hand and power tools
