What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Wetland Scientist position at Mid-Atlantic Associates?
Mid-Atlantic Associates is seeking a Senior Wetland Scientist to lead the development and management of environmental consulting and natural resource projects in the Wilmington as well as other MAA, service regions. This position requires a self-motivated individual who will play a pivotal role in developing Mid-Atlantic’s natural resources services line and lead a resulting team of scientists and/or engineers. The ideal candidate will possess 7 years of industry experience, strong leadership and team management skills, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and support Business Development growth initiatives by attending industry-related networking events.
Key responsibilities:
· Perform and supervise field assessments such as wetland delineations, stream determinations, mitigation monitoring, and feasibility studies.
· Conduct rare, threatened, and endangered species surveys.
· Serve as lead consultant on 401/404 and CAMA permitting projects
· Prepare and review technical reports to include assessment forms, rating sheets, GIS site maps, photo exhibits, and additional required notations.
· Develop and oversee a diverse project portfolio for both public and private sector clients to include planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
· Prepare cost estimates/proposals and participate in community/public outreach events during the project development phase.
· Attend industry-related networking events and participate in strategic planning goals in collaboration with Principals and Director of Business Development
Requirements/Certifications
· BS/MS in environmental science, Natural Resources, Ecology, or related field
· 5 years of experience conducting wetland delineations and stream determinations in NC, SC, and VA
· Professional Wetland Scientist is preferred.
· Extensive North Carolina permitting knowledge for federal and state agencies – experience with NEPA processes is preferred.
· Experience working with GIS or CAD (AutoCAD or MicroStation)
