JOB SUMMARY
The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in various accounting functions, including month-end reconciliations, cash receipt reconciliations, payroll and commission preparation, and government billing. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Accounting department provides business support for multiple companies under the Mid Atlantic Machinery umbrella.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform month-end reconciliations for various accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Conduct cash receipt reconciliations to verify accuracy of incoming funds and resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare and process payroll and commission payments in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist in government billing processes, including invoicing, reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports as needed.
- Stay updated on relevant accounting regulations and standards to ensure compliance.
- Any other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred. Candidates with a 2-year accounting degree and relevant experience will be considered.
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar accounting role, internship experience will be considered.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Knowledge and/or experience of SAGE Intacct or other accounting software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
