Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Community Ambassador Experience Intern join our Professional Development and Wellness (PDW) department. This position is a six-month full-time, 40 hours per week internship opportunity, based out of our regional office located in Washington D.C. with a hybrid work model. This internship requires the intern to be onsite twice a week, with one day at the Kaiser Permanente Kensington Medical Center and one day at the Largo Medical Center. Reporting to a Director of Strategy Implementation, the Community Ambassador Experience Intern will engage with patients, assist with scheduling and health education activities, and help address healthcare gaps through various projects. You will conduct outreach, review healthcare data, analyzing feedback, and supporting logistical tasks. This hands-on experience will allow you to develop valuable skills in patient engagement, healthcare coordination, and project management.
As an intern, you can expect to:
- Conduct outreach to Medicare Advantage Members (65 ) to invite them to the Community Ambassador Experience, assist with scheduling appointments, and review healthcare gaps in Epic to ensure patient needs are addressed
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, checking them in and ensuring a welcoming experience, while engaging them through interactive activities (games, pamphlets, QR codes) and assisting with wayfinding
- Confirm event schedules, coordinate logistics (including room setup and patient education materials), and manage AV equipment for presentations and guest speakers
- Collect and analyze post-event survey feedback to improve future events and communicate regularly with team members to address ongoing needs
What is required:
- Must be a current student enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in medicine, biology, public health, health communications, health administration, or a related field; Recent college graduates are ineligible for the internship program
- Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours a week
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evening hours
- Must be able to commute to the Washington D.C. regional office, Largo Medical Center, and Capitol Hill Medical Center as needed
- Strong passion for healthcare and a desire to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups of people
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
- Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment. Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment
The starting hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $25.00, which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
