What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media Summer Intern position at Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group?
Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Social Media Summer Intern to join our Strategy and Communications department. This position is a full-time, 40 hours per week, internship opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington D.C. with a hybrid work model. This internship position requires the intern to be onsite every Tuesday at our Capitol Hill regional office. Please note, this position is ineligible for benefits. Reporting to a Senior Communications Consultant , the Social Media Summer Intern will collaborate with experienced communications professionals, physician subject matter experts, and spokespeople to create engaging content for social media, external websites, and public relations initiatives. You will support the social media strategy and content development across all MAPMG social media platforms. This internship offers the opportunity to develop skills in content creation, social media management, and healthcare communications while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
You can expect to :
- Create and manage social media content : Develop posts for LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and Instagram to highlight MAPMG physicians' media appearances (4 posts per week), driving engagement and awareness. Posts should generate visibility, with a focus on increasing views, likes, comments, and clicks to the kp.org / doctor website.
- Promote Healthier You podcast : Package and post content related to the Healthier You podcast across social media platforms, aiming to reach 1M listeners in 2025, including creating posts that support the podcast’s growth and increase audience interaction.
- Develop TikTok and Instagram content : Create 4 original content pieces each week for TikTok and Instagram. Each post should be optimized for engagement, averaging high views and interactions (e.g., 700 views on TikTok, 300 views on Instagram), contributing to the overall goal of attracting new consumers to KP.
- Design promotional content for new blogs : Create a variety of posts, including static posts, sliders, animated posts, shorts, and stories, to promote new and upcoming blogs across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts.
- Research and optimize social media trends : Stay up to date on trending topics across social media platforms and leverage them to create fresh, original content that drives engagement. This helps MAPMG increase its social media following and reach tens of thousands of potential new patients.
What is required :
The starting hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $25.00, which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
