Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year front desk experience in a medical office or equivalent (desired)
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, Microsoft Office Suite
- Nextgen knowledge preferred but not required
Essential Functions
1. Checks patients in and out for visit.
2. Scans insurance cards and identification cards into the patients EHR.
3. Ensures all required referrals are presented, complete and correct.
4. Furnishes new patients with all required paperwork.
5. Obtains necessary patient signatures on pertinent forms.
6. Updates patient demographics, insurance information, etc. for returning patients.
7. Registers new patient's demographics, insurance information, etc. into computer.
8. Properly and consistently verifies insurance information.
9. Collects current money due and old balances/co-pays/deductibles.
10. Politely refers patients to billing when necessary.
11. Correctly schedules patients according to template.
12. Reconciles monies at the end of each day.
13. Answers phones according to company protocol.
14. Reschedules or cancels appointments as needed by phone or mail.
15. Telephone screening of patients.
16. Regular and predictable on-site attendance required.
17. Works overtime as needed.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical & Cognitive Demands

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Working environment in exam rooms is often in moderate light.
- Using hands to operate equipment, show manual or finger dexterity, handle things with precision or speed, use muscular coordination and physical stamina. Ability to raise dominant arm above shoulder height to assist patients with credit card payments, stylus and insurance cards at check in / check out.
