- A high school degree
- A minimum of 2 years prior surgery scheduling experience in a health care facility
setting. - Experience with Practice Management Systems, Nextgen preferred.

Job Description
The Surgical Coordinator Manager leads the Surgical Coordinator team in addition to managing
the overall assignments, coverage and payroll. Daily communication with physicians, patients,
staff and MAR team members across the practice are an essential part of this job.
Job Duties
- Directs the duties, priorities, and necessities of various routines to be carried out on a
daily basis by all surgical coordinators, ensuring policies and procedures are followed. - Maintains open lines of communication with Surgical Coordinators by conducting
weekly or bi-weekly meetings. - Assists Clinical Operations Officer with policies and procedures.
- Responsible for developing and implementing training and support to existing and new
Surgical Coordinators. - Responsible for the interviewing, hiring, onboarding and training of new Surgical
Coordinators as needed. - Monitors and assess performance of staff and provides disciplinary action as needed.
- Telephone screening of patients.
- Schedules all surgeries for assigned locations.
- Schedules any outside testing needed for patients.
- Completes pre-certification process for all surgeries.
- Assists all assigned physicians with surgical related issues.
- Keeps all assigned physicians up to date on start times and any issues within their
schedule. - Communicates with patients regarding insurance benefits, surgical co-pays and out of
pocket financial responsibilities. - Makes certain all surgical paperwork is completed and submitted to surgical facility.
- Gathers all pre-operative testing for patients and submits to surgical facility.
- Makes certain all cases are posted in PMS and EHR systems correctly.
- Assists staff with related surgery or insurance issues.
- Provides backup for surgical coordinators as needed.
- Regular and predictable on-site attendance required.
- Travels as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
