What are the responsibilities and job description for the Saw Operator position at Mid Atlantic Wood Products?
Job Summary
o Set up and operate CNC Panel Saw
o Clear machine jams, using hand tools. Count, sort, or stack finished workpieces.
o Cut sizes and shapes according to specifications/patterns or work orders.
o Examine blueprints, drawings, work orders, or patterns to determine equipment set-up or selection details, procedures to be used, or dimensions of final products.
o Inspect and measure workpieces to verify the accuracy of cuts, using tape measures or calipers.
o Inspect stock for imperfections or to estimate grades or qualities of stock or workpieces.
o Perform preventative maintenance on the machine
Current work schedule is 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday - Friday. Subject to change at discretion of employer
Safety/Work Supplies Required: Safety Glasses, Work Gloves, and Tape Measure
Essential Functions of Job
- Start machine each morning and prepare area for cutting
- Use saw controller to access cut programs for each job
- Complete cutting of raw materials that include particle board, plywood, MDF, and TFM boards (thermally fused melamine)
- Use metric tape measure to verify sizes of raw materials and completed parts
- Perform daily maintenance and cleanup of machine and surrounding area
- Monitor saw blades for wear and change blades as needed
- Use forklift to bring raw materials to the saw for cutting, and empty large dumpster
- Organize laminate and other raw materials in storage racks
Education and Qualifications
- 1 year experience running a panel saw in a furniture manufacturing plant
- Speak and read English, Bi-lingual is a plus
- Lift minimum of 60 pounds
- Wear proper personal protective equipment
- Follow safety guidelines
- Report for work on time each day
- Be prepared to work overtime as needed
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
