Position Summary
The Dental Director serves as the chief dental officer of the community health center, responsible for leading clinical operations. They recommend and implement policies, supervise staff, ensure quality improvement, and participate in the management team.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the clinical program according to established guidelines.
- Provides outpatient care and night/weekend call coverage.
- Maintains licensure in good standing in the state of Arkansas.
- Organizes clinical staff and resources for healthcare programs.
- Leads recruiting efforts for dental staff and makes employment recommendations.
- Sets responsibilities, authority, and working relationships among dental staff.
- Conducts monthly staff meetings and determines clinic schedules.
- Makes recommendations for equipment and supply purchases.
- Supervises quality improvement activities related to clinical care measures.
- Conducts annual performance evaluations.
- Participates in major policy and financial decisions.
- Reports to the Board of Directors on clinical dental activities.
- Attends PCMH training and performs other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Dentist's license to practice in Arkansas.
- Ability to employ management techniques and analyze complex information.
- Effective communication skills and decision-making abilities.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Personal and professional qualities to earn staff confidence and respect.
- Age-related in-service training participation.
