We are seeking a full-time Loan Servicer to join our team! The individual chosen will need to ensure loans, including mortgages, equities, commercial, and consumer are serviced efficiently and accurately, according to credit union and Investor guidelines and policies. This individual will also be expected to work with both staff and members on resolving problems / issues with loans.



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Reviewing new Commercial and Consumer loans on our DNA system. Auditing new Mortgages and Equities, which includes reviewing paperwork from the closing attorney and processing checks, updating data fields in DNA, and filing equities with the appropriate municipality.
  • Maintaining mortgage escrow accounts, which includes activation of PMI policies, and monthly premium processing, handling of escrowed homeowner’s insurance, flood insurance, and property taxes. Working with our current venders to ensure data accuracy, and reviewing, updating, and responding to member inquiries regarding annual escrow analysis.
  • Ensuring Mortgages, Equities, Commercial mortgages are efficiently and accurately serviced and maintained on DNA, which includes, credit disputes, daily rate comparisons, subordination requests, liability/lot releases, property damage claims, loan recast requests, participation payments, and construction loan maintenance.
  • Servicing consumer loan, which includes auto payment discounts, CPI, debt protection, FDI, GAP, out of state titles, letters of guarantee, lien releases, and other back-office duties as necessary. Processing of lease payoffs, payments, insurance tracking, and communication to our lease vendors.
  • Evaluating mortgage(s) for sale on the secondary market, setting up investor stratifications and pack files. Reporting via Investor's system(s) and in accordance with their guidelines, and transferring servicing and process funds. FNMA daily cash remittance, monthly loan activity files, and response to FNMA audit requests when required. Processing Investor payoffs and report via their system(s) and in accordance with their guidelines.
  • Preparing SONYMA closing paperwork for submission and working with Mortgage Originations to satisfy conditions. Processing SONYMA wire in accordance with the Loan Purchase Advice and staying up to date on all SONYMA and M&T requirements. 
  • Timely preparation of daily and monthly reports and year-end processing and performing other related duties as assigned.


Performance Measurements include:


  • Assuring member service is top priority, which includes treating members and other employees professionally with courtesy and respect and upholding the MHV Service Standards.
  • Ensuring that mortgages, equities, commercial, and consumer loans are efficiently and accurately serviced.
  • Loading mortgages, equities, commercial loans on the host system with minimal errors. Preparing paperwork for the attorney, which includes preparing packages and sending out SONYA files within 24 hours of reviewing them.
  • Reconciling, disbursing and calculating daily and monthly work, including Fannie Mae, month-end reports, daily work, construction billings, PMI, pulling daily rates, and other work assigned, with zero or minimal errors.
  • Evaluating mortgages for sale to the secondary market, which includes setting up and delivering in accordance with their guidelines.
  • Demonstrating awareness of departmental goals and meeting deadlines as required.
  • Using sound judgement when making decisions in normal situations. Continuing to be adaptable and adjusting to change with reasonable instruction. Keeping management informed regarding key operational issues affecting the department.
  • Acting as a team player; occasionally makes recommendations for operational efficiencies.
  • Demonstrating thorough knowledge of the job and rarely needs to ask questions. Staying abreast of current trends
    affecting the financial services industry and having an overall knowledge of the credit union, its policies and
    procedures. Continually expanding knowledge and developing skills.



Knowledge and Skills:


  • One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
  • Strong time management; ability to manage multiple workloads with successful results; ability to work independently; organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, listening skills, problem analysis and problem resolution; aboveaverage interpersonal skills and proficiency; computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office)
  • Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Normal range of vision and hearing abilities required. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
  • Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
  • Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
  • Work is generally performed within an office environment, primarily in a climate
    controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting,
    standing, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent
    near vision use for reading and computer use; standard office equipment available.
