What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Age Program Director position at Mid-Michigan Area Public Schools Consortium?
- School Age Program Director’s shall meet one of the qualifications below per licensing:
- Work positively and effectively with both adults and children.
- Take initiative in understanding and working with a variety of children with varied interests, abilities, and ages.
- Knowledge of child development and planning developmentally appropriate activities.
- Flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills.
- All necessary forms must be in your office file before you begin (TB test results, criminal background check, DHS clearance, LARA eligibility, Consent & Disclosure Form, Screening Statement, Handbook Acknowledgement, all required training by licensing.)
- Reliable attendance and punctuality is a must.
- Be available once a month from 1:00-6:00 p.m. for district Early Release days.
- Take children outside daily throughout all seasons.
- Create and maintain a structured routine with a posted schedule.
- Ability to follow the guidelines listed in the staff handbook and State of Michigan licensing rules for childcare centers.
- Actively interact with children, staff members, and parents in a positive manner, with dignity and respect at all times.
- Maintain order through positive group management techniques and strategies.
- Prepare snacks.
- Maintain a clean, organized area. Care for materials and equipment properly.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Stay updated on communications via office mailbox, email, and weekly SMORE newsletter.
- Complete all professional development requirements according to deadlines.
- Plan and implement child led interest activities.
- Maintain paperwork and documentation according to licensing requirements.
- Perform any duties as asked by the supervisor.
- This position follows the Davison Community Schools calendar.
- There may be opportunities to work for the Preschool Summer Camp Program.
- Staff discounts for own children attending a preschool or latchkey program.
