MMGS is a non-profit agency that provides court appointed guardianship and other fiscal services to vulnerable individuals who are unable to make or conduct personal or financial decisions for themselves. The Executive Director, under the leadership of the Board of Directors, is responsible for the overall operation of the agency; overseeing a team of Clinical Support coordinators and administrative staff who provide services to over 500 clients.
Operations Management:
- Provides general supervision for the daily management and operation of Mid-Michigan Guardianship Services to achieve delivery of services in a high quality, ethical and fiscally responsible manner and according to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensures that each client for whom MMGS is guardian: 1 Has proper food and clothing, 2 Lives in a place that is appropriate for him or her, 3 Has his or her Medical needs met 4 Has his or her Property and funds safeguarded. 5 Has the opportunity to have meaningful input into decisions
- Ensures that clients receive all public benefits to which they are entitled and that all related reports are completed as required.
- Ensures that all Probate court regulations and requirements are adhered to and all related reporting occurs in a timely manner.
- Provides oversight of projects, improvement efforts, systems, workflows and planning and execution, utilizing current technologies to maximize cost efficiencies and productivity.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with funders and the probate courts.
- Recommends and develops operational policies and procedures to drive achievement of the organizational mission.
- As appropriate, expands revenue through fundraising and grant activities.
- Provides outreach to build organizational awareness with political leaders, and community groups.
- Reports regularly to the Board of Directors and provides operational reports to assist in the evaluation of program effectiveness.
- Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and implement annual business plan
- Implement evaluative programs to measure successes for effective board communication and data-driven decisions
- Refine all marketing, including online presence, social media initiatives, email blasts, and fundraising websites
- Complies with the organizations safety policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with governmental licensing and regulatory requirements where applicable.
Clinical Support Responsibilities
- Responsible for the hiring and retention of qualified team members
- Provides strategic leadership and oversight to foster a client service oriented and accountable environment
- Manages the HR process including orientation, supervision, performance evaluation and recognition programs.
- Ensures that employees receive required training in a timely manner.
- Creates and supports a positive and empowering workplace culture which fosters a team approach.
- Encourages and promotes professional development for employees.
. Financial Management
- Develops/manages balanced budget to ensure that the organization has adequate funds to operate on an annual basis.
- Ensure that all clients’ funds, trusts and property are safeguarded, and utilized in a manner that is in the best interest of the client and in accordance with all laws and regulations.
- Ensure that all financial reports, taxes, and other government requirements are met by the agency.
- Ensure that bills are paid and that invoices are submitted in a timely fashion.
- In conjunction with financial controller, manage the accurate completion of financial statements and budgets and present them to the Board at regular intervals.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with commensurate years of experience required – preferably social work, developmental disabilities, gerontology, public administration, business administration, law or a related field
- A passion to advocate and help those in need of assistance required
- Ability to build a strong team, find solutions, and collaborate with community leaders required
- Ability to delegate or collaborate in those areas requiring additional skill and experience beyond your own as needed
- Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and commitment to data-driven decisions required
- Previous success building and maintaining a balanced budget
- Previous experience with vulnerable elders or persons with special needs required
- Experience in non-profit agency management highly desired
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent Problem solving and negotiation skills
- Must Be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to proof to verify I-9 qualifications (legal ability to work in U.S.)
Work Environment
Primarily this job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role may require travel within large service area.
