What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Specialist/Teller position at Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union?
General Purpose: Under supervision and in accordance with procedures and system the primary function of this job is to provide outstanding service to members by promoting and selling credit union services and products to new and existing members and by fully using job-relevant technical skills, maintaining/updating technical skills and seeking to enhance service skills. Perform a variety of duties to provide services to the member to include receipting and/or disbursing of funds, via checks, money orders, direct deposit and direct payments.

Fundamental Duties

- Responsible for building member loyalty by meeting and exceeding members' expectations.
- Responsible to develop and maintain relationships with credit union members by determining member needs and maximizing all opportunities to sell additional credit union products and services.
Deposit and Member Service Functions
- Process a variety of transactions for members including but not limited to the opening and closing of accounts including personal and business savings and checking accounts, IRA's, Term Share accounts, etc. Responsible for performing stop payments, researching and balancing accounts, and enrolling member for direct deposits and ACH origination.
- Effectively explain credit union products and services to members.
- Identify sales opportunities through all loan and deposit sources.
- Support loan and deposit growth by working call campaigns that identify pre-qualified members for loan and deposit opportunities as well as uncovering future loan and deposit product needs.
- Seek to achieve sales of products and services that are beneficial to both the member and the credit union in accordance with sales expectations and goals.
- Communicates with members requiring assistance in account usage, account balance and balancing information, inquiries, copy requests, change of address, and similar account usage and administers the appropriate procedures to process the items.
- Opens and closes safe deposit boxes, takes members to their boxes and
- directs them to the reviewing room, reviews safe deposit procedures for new members, keeps a log of rented and non-rented boxes and ensures all keys to non-rented boxes are secure.
- Interview applicants to obtain credit information necessary to establish a credit decision, determine the best loan product for the member, sell additional loan products, credit insurance and other services, such as payroll deduction and direct deposit, and close loans under set policies, procedures and compliance. Enter the loan application while determining member's creditworthiness and helping the member make the best choices for their situation.
- Assemble credit information received from the credit bureau to assist in the review process. Forward to a Lending Specialist for review. Responsible for processing the application, note, disbursement and all required paperwork in accordance with the credit union loan policies and procedures.
- Follow proper branch procedures to ensure all liens are recorded and satisfied properly.
- Process deposits to share, share draft, and other saving account
- Disburse cash or check withdrawals
- Provide, Money Orders, Stamps and Visa Cash Advances
- Record loan payments and loan advance from open ended loan
- Assist in the withdrawal of funds from term share account
- Process transfers between accounts
- Operate and balance coin machine and roll coin as needed
- Record stop payments/lost or stolen cards
- Process check orders
- Operate postage machine for outgoing mail
- Answer phones when needed to assist members with transfers, payments and questions
- Verify incoming cash from Federal Reserve
- Assist in balancing, daily deposits and loading cash for the ATM machine
- Keep an inventory of office supplies
- Process Line of Credit Advances
- Daily opens and closes teller terminal, accounting for cash/checks/money orders by accurately balancing.
- Together with Branch Manager, performs duties of Vault Teller.
- Research account information or discrepancies for members at their request.
- Close accounts when requested, according to procedure.
- Count, sort, and wrap coin received as necessary.
- Ensure that all security measures are in place and adhered to in the teller area. This includes alarm system and bait money.
- Prepare standardized reports, such as CTR reports, as directed by Reg CC.
- Perform specific and delegated duties as assigned by Management.
