What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Representative position at MID OHIO PIPELINE COMPANY INC?
SUMMARY:
Provide a level of Safety that creates positivity, enthusiasm, and participation among management and workers, resulting in excellent safety performance. Set exemplary standards of ethics and ownership of the company?s resources, and support company philosophy, practices, and goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a look-ahead schedule in weekly update meetings.
- Conduct thorough job site audits or more frequent when requested, to include Subcontractors.
- Identify workplace hazards and work directly with the Crew Leader and the management team to develop, implement, and maintain control strategies for effective mitigation techniques.
- Review trends to include both leading and lagging indicators and determine a path forward.
- Understand the use of Care on Site reporting line for injury management and insurance claim
- Provide basic first aid only. Never provide care outside of first aid without the approvals of the Company SAFETY Leader and a physician with the appropriate state licensure or certifications.
- Conduct complete incident investigations.
- Review and revise safety policies to ensure federal and state requirements compliance.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct safety training. This may include but is not limited to; New Hire Orientation, Site-Specific Training, SSE, etc.
- Attend weekly management meetings and lead with Safety Moments.
- Develop and distribute weekly Toolbox Talks for crew leads to discuss with all employees.
- Attend JSA meetings and Toolbox talks with crews.
- Order, receive, inventory, issue, and monitor PPE and department consumables.
- Provide applicable monthly safety metric performance to Company Safety Leader.
- Monitor Drug and Alcohol policy for pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-incident testing.
- Understand all environmental permitting regulations and ensure compliance.
- Conduct internal pre-job kickoff meetings with Subcontractors to set site-specific expectations.
- Understand and become competent with combustible gas detector maintenance and repair.
- Participate in professional and personal growth programs: IDP, ALP, and FMI.
- Issue Equipment Qualification and Competent Person cards when necessary.
- Develop Site-Specific Safety and Emergency Response plans when required.
- Help maintain compliance sites and monthly reporting for clients and costumers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Functional computer skills and MS Word, PPT, and Excel knowledge.
- Able to make PowerPoint presentations and reports as required to manage safety programs.
- Able to write and type reports with reasonable accuracy and appropriate grammar.
- Must have knowledge of OSHA regulations, record keeping, risk, and case management skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Education Level Required: High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience or a related field and have demonstrated the ability and knowledge to perform the duties of a safety professional.
- OSHA 510 or requisite experience to obtain
- Utility experience preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must have CPR/First Aid or EMT certification
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Occasional overnight travel to be expected
- Primarily office environment with moderate noise levels
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to bend, stand, carry, stoop, kneel, and reach
