The Mid-Ohio Water and Sewer District is a regional water and sewer provider established as an O.R.C 6119 entity. Mid-Ohio provides water and sewer services throughout Madison County and includes the operation of 6 wastewater treatment plants and 5 water treatment facilities. The Mid-Ohio Water and Sewer District is a rapidly expanding water and sewer district which provides services to over 25,000 local residents.
Mid-Ohio has opportunities for experienced, highly motivated individuals to join our team and be part of this fast-growing District. Due to our rapid growth and expansion of services, the District currently has an opening for the Class I Water & Class II Wastewater Operator position. This position responsibilities include Operating, maintaining, and repairing water and wastewater treatment facilities. Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly sampling of the facilities based off of OEPA issued plant permits and sampling schedule. Control and monitor the biological treatment process, Operate pumps, motors, blowers, Monitor flow meters, Perform routine servicing and cleaning of plant, pipes, and equipment, Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot electrical controls, Take samples for analysis, Perform laboratory analyses, Prepare reports and logs detailing plant operation, Submit OEPA monthly MOR, and DMR reports.
To include assisting the District distribution and collections team as needed in making water and sewer service taps, installing valves, water meter units, fire hydrants and other water distribution components; perform repairs and scheduled maintenance on sanitary sewer collection systems, including manholes, lift stations and individual grinder systems; performs heavy manual labor duties and tasks; and conducts meter readings for the purpose of generating monthly billing statements.

Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Operations Supervisor, with additional supervision by the Lead Operator, the Class I water & Class II wastewater operator has a variety of routine duties including operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems maintenance, treatment facility maintenance and general labor as needed. The plant operator performs a variety of specific and non-specific duties and responsibilities intended to maintain the District facilities for the benefit of its customers.

· Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot electrical controls

· Fabricate pumping systems and piping
· Fabricate electrical control panels

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment facilities and functions.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures and accepted safety practices.
- Skill in use of basic hand tools and equipment.
- Ability to operate skid steer, dump truck, small tractor, forklift, grinders, welders and torches.
- Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions and to read and understand blueprints and technical manuals.
- Ability to communicate and work well with others.
- Ability to work in a group or alone.
- Ability to move whole body quickly and easily, carry and climb ladders, climb through 24 inch diameter manhole and must be able to lift 100 lbs. Ability to perform arithmetic calculations; perform a variety of manual labor tasks; and complete safety training as required by federal, state and local standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school graduate or equivalent.
· Valid Driver License or valid driving privileges in the State of Ohio.
· One (1) year of demonstrated experience in corrective and preventative maintenance on pumps, blowers,
Generators, and other mechanical equipment.
· Must be able to lift weights up to a maximum of 100 pounds.
· Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and tolerate heights up to 50 feet.
· Able to obtain an Ohio EPA Class I Water Supply within 12 months date of hire

Pay
Mid-Ohio is a diverse and fast growing newly established District in Madison County Ohio. Pay is competitive and based on experience and value to the District. Work Conditions
Work is performed primarily outdoors. Employees in this position are often working on public roadways, exposed to traffic hazards, sometimes at night or in inclement weather. Additional job site conditions include exposure to open trenches, sewage, various chemicals, and dust or pollen. The employee may also be exposed to hazards such as dampness, direct sunlight, machinery or its moving parts, chemicals, or similar solutions, insect stings, liquid chemicals, and noisy work area. Some sites may be in remote locations, requiring employee to walk over rough terrain. The employee is frequently exposed to noxious odors, chemical fumes and liquid solvents. He/she may also be required to work near live electrical lines.
