JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall supervision of maintenance of lawns, athletic fields, trees, landscaped areas, roads, and walkways.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop, implement and oversee an ongoing landscape maintenance program.
- Develop, implement and oversee a regular maintenance program for all landscape equipment.
- Schedule, assign and oversee daily and weekly tasks for grounds maintenance staff.
- Organize ongoing staff development training programs. Monitor changes in state and federal laws regarding the use and handling of all landscape chemicals and fertilizers.
- Provide quality control and oversight of all landscape projects.
- Identify and correct potential problems and safety concerns in relation to landscaped areas.
- Prepare written status reports as required on landscape projects.
- Assist in the preparation of annual operating budget.
- Provide annual written employee evaluations for all grounds maintenance staff.
- Provide on-the-job training for new employees.
- Solicit bids or price-shop for ground maintenance equipment, supplies or services.
- Adhere to all purchasing policies adopted by Mid-Pacific.
- Make recommendations to the Director on replacement or disposal of landscape equipment when appropriate.
- Make recommendations to the Director on policies regarding staff development, discipline or discharge.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance and equipment repairs.
SCHOOL SAFETY

Sexual abuse includes child molestation, any actual or alleged illegal or otherwise wrongful sexual conduct with a minor, and serial sexual misconduct, any actual or alleged illegal or otherwise wrongful sexual conduct with more than one victim; and committed by or alleged to have been committed by any perpetrator who is not a student of an included entity.
- Develop safe work procedures and ensure adherence to procedures.
- Ensure compliance of safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate safety issues with employees.
- Ensure that employees are provided with information, instruction, training and supervision that they need to work safely.
- Ensure that employees are aware of and abide by all relevant safety procedures.
- Encourage early reporting of incidents and forward information to Manager and Human Resources immediately.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college in agriculture or six years progressive experience in landscape maintenance.
- Experienced in large tree trimming and maintenance.
- State licensed commercial pesticide applicator desirable.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Adequate computer skills in Microsoft Word and database management.
- State-licensed commercial pesticide applicator desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Service-oriented attitude and able to work well with faculty, staff, and the general public.
- Must be flexible and cross-trained in performing the various tasks that pertain to the day-to-day operation of the school.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a 12-month, full-time position requiring 40-hour workweeks. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, however, these hours may vary depending on departmental needs, deadlines, or school events. Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Our campus consists of multiple buildings on 44 hilly acres that requires frequent walking including uphill and stairs. The individual is required to talk and hear, required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required include close vision.
MENTAL DEMANDS
On a daily basis employee must frequently problem solve, make decisions, supervise, interpret data, organize, write, plan, and clearly communicate.
