Mid South Baking, LLC, our subsidiary is a high speed bread manufacturer located in Bryan, TX. We are seeking a Quality Assurance Technician.

Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician ensures the quality and food safety of the products and services provided by the company. This position is responsible for working with the QA Manager and the quality staff on key programs such as third party audits, regulatory audits, customer audits, departmental goals and objectives (KPI’s), keeps current with quality assurance projects and key performance indicators, and ensures continuity of key programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the quality of product and services by testing product, performing audits of product lines, placing defective products on hold and taking corrective action
- Keeps current with key quality assurance programs and department operation by working closely with the Quality manager.
- Performs other duties including but not limited to handling customer complaints, communicating holds and discrepancies with supervisors and other departments; completing various reports by maintaining bill of materials, the corporate specification system, maintaining hold logs, completing weekly and monthly reports as assigned by the QA Manager
- May participate in the execution of the company’s sanitation program.
- Shall participate in Daily and Weekly Sensory Evaluations Panel Scoring
- Shall review HACCP CCP Records
- Shall participate in weekly Food Safety and Quality Plant Inspections
- Shall monitor tracking of Food Safety and Quality System Corrective/Preventive Actions
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in a science field, e.g., Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, etc. preferred, but not required
- PCQI Cert preferred
- HACCP Cert Preferred
Experience:
- Must have at least 1 year experience directly in quality in a manufacturing environment
- Prefer experience in a food production environment; background in science, math, statistics, and/or accounting (college level coursework)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication
- Detail oriented and organized
- Proficient computer skills in spreadsheets; data bases and word processing
- Excellent technical knowledge of equipment, products and processes
- Self motivated, results orientated and excellent personal skills
- Strong background in HACCP; GMP; and AIB and BRC
- Must have a hands-on work ethic
- Bilingual preferred

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, darkness and/or noise. Seasonal exposure to weather elements includes, but is not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness and humidity.
- Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks such as working around mechanical equipment, forklifts, chemical hazards, and electrical hazards.
- Position requires sitting frequently at a desk, walking around the office and plant; carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; reaching and kneeling on a daily basis. Also requires the ability to see, hear and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.
