What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Mid South Precision?
Overview
A Quality Inspector will inspect parts produced for MSP to ensure they reach standards as outlined by the customers. They will work closely with MSP's Quality Manager to check and verify parts to exacting standards using gages and a CMM machine.
Duties
- Read and interpret blueprints; understand, interpret, and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerance per the requirements of ANSI Y14.5
- Utilize precision measuring instruments and QA/QC methodologies to assess product quality.
- Part inspection using standard measuring/test equipment (calipers, mics, height gages) and specialized gauging (Coordinate Measuring Machine, or CMM)
- Create final inspection reports and establish inspection criteria per customer requirements
- Create non-conformance reports and initiate corrective and preventative actions when appropriate
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate records in accordance with quality management systems
- Calibration of gages
- Assist operators with First Piece Inspections as needed
- Verify quantities of materials, hardware, etc., on the job traveler throughout the process
- Other tasks and duties as required
Skills
- Proficient use of the English language, both written and spoken
- Basic math skills
- Proficient in using precision measuring instruments for quality inspection
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-5 years of related experience and/or training (or- combination of both)
- Helpful but not required: CMM training
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: 45 – 50 per week
