Maintains a system to assure that all products manufactured by the division meet customer specifications and achieve quality and reliability levels. Develops quality standards and insures conformity of purchased materials and final products to quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Implement statistical control program.
- Meets with customers, vendors, and inspectors to discuss and resolve quality problems.
- Coordinates with product engineering to establish quality standards on new or revised products.
- May supervise and train quality inspectors or other personnel in proper monitoring of quality.
- Inspects production for imperfections before being stored in warehouse.
- Enters productivity information into computer to create tags, then tags production.
- Develop quality standards and insures conformity of purchased materials and final products to quality standards.
- Maintain system to assure that all products meet quality, reliability, and specifications.
- Keeps work area clean and orderly. Responsible for conducting all works in a safe manner.
- May perform other duties as requested.
- May participate on project teams as requested.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to conduct quality checks with rulers, templates, micrometers, gauges or fixtures. Must be able to gage quality by comparing work with drawings, prints, prototype samples and other specifications from the engineering department or customer. Must have basic computer skills.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents, like safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, or employees. Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Knowledge of statistical and random sampling, recording observations and making percentage reject calculations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
